I just wanted to take a quick moment to profusely thank some of the extremely good folks in the Blogosphere for their kindness in promoting Thrilling Days of Yesteryear, particularly Eugene.com, an excellent guide to the comings-and-goings in the greater Eugene, Springfield Oregon area. These fine people named Yesteryear as their Blog of the Day for November 15, and I must admit, I was little overwhelmed by that. This blog is a labor of love for me, and anytime someone singles it out for praise it really gives me a great feeling inside.
I'd also like to offer a hearty handclasp (apologies for the W.C. Fields ref) to Just Playing and my Salon blog neighbor Daihatsu Graceland for their encouraging comments, and It's Not Me...It's You: Reflections on a Singular Existence and World O'Crap for the blogrolling mentions. World O'Crap gets special commendation for inspiring me to stick my toe in the rushing river known as Blogdom and in particular, the inspiration to create an OTR weblog after reading a series of falling-down funny food-recipes cribbed from Aunt Jenny's True-Life Stories, a popular soap opera broadcast during Radio's Golden Age.
To these people, and anyone I may have left out (if I did, please e-mail me for chastisement) I offer my heartfelt thanks.

This book is a keeper
In 1976, Tune in Yesterday--a mini-encyclopedia on old-time radio written by mystery writer/OTR fan John Dunning--was published, and was considered by many in the Golden Age of Radio community to be the Bible of OTR. Dunning revised the book in 1998 as On the Air: The Encyclopedia of Old-Time Radio, updating and expanding many of the book's entries--and it still remains the definitive book on the subject.
I mention this only because someone gave me a heads up that Oxford University Press has the book marked down to $25.00 as part of their holiday sale. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls--you simply cannot be afford to be without this book, and at that price it is a steal. Run, don't walk, to your computer and order yourself a copy.
