What I Learned Watching “House Hunters”

People, I notice, don’t see what I see,

“I don’t want to buy, the carpet is green.”

They look at a house, refuse to go in.

“Not quite my taste, it’s as ugly as sin.

“I’ve seen enough, don’t make me go further.

The bathroom is blue, don’t even bother.

I wanted a basement, barbeque too,

A hillside with decks and wide-open view.

“The street is busy, there’s way too much noise.

Schools should be good for my wonderful boys.

The garage is too small for my RV,

The mailbox, however, sure is pretty.”

When fixing a house, preparing to sell,

You worry about what won’t show so well.

You want character but you can’t offend,

People won’t buy if there’s too much to mend.

The biggest decision of someone’s life

Besides getting wed as husband and wife

Is quickly decided when they fall hard

For squirrels playing on trees in the yard.
