Contrary to popular belief

Walt Whitman wrote:

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,

The ship has weather'd every rack, the prize we sought is won,

The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,

While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;

But O heart! heart! heart!

O the bleeding drops of red,

Where on the deck my Captain lies,

Fallen cold and dead.

Walt Whitman did not write:

I'm just a hunk-a, hunk-a burning love

I'm just a hunk-a, hunk-a burning love

A hunk-a, hunk-a burning love

A hunk-a, hunk-a burning love

A hunk-a, hunk-a burning love

I'm just a hunk-a hunk-a burning love

I'm just a hunk-a hunk-a burning love

I'm just a hunk-a hunk-a burning love

I'm just a hunk-a hunk-a burning love

I'm just a hunk-a hunk-a burning love.

Elvis Presley wrote that.

Overheard

Starbucks. Burlington, VT. A young, attractive woman talking with her friend.

“I’m a size 8, but sometimes I wear a 10. It depends on the designer and the cut of the clothes. I hate that. Why?  I mean, nobody is going to know but me. Right? I know I’m an 8. Other women will be like, ‘I wonder what size blouse she’s wearing.’ What are they going to do? Grab the back of my shirt to look at the tag? And men. They just want my clothes off! They’re certainly not looking at any tags.”
