The turning point
My former boss, Meyer, is a good friend and a sage. He has a way of seeing right through to the skinny on most things. One day he came to work decrying the fact that there comes a time for all of us when we start going to more funerals than weddings.
I am thinking about that truth today as I pack up for the long drive back to my hometown in Pennsylvania to attend the funeral of my brother-in-law, Jim. He was my sister’s husband and a very special guy in my mind, if only for putting up with her all these years. Jim was a wonderful man who died too young. I will miss him greatly.
The tally for 2003:
Funerals: 3
Weddings: 0
