Cicada II (the pep talk)

Well hello there my bizarre cicada friend.
Your seventeen year wait is finally at an end.
A warm welcome to you and all of Brood X.
You seem rested, molted and ready for sex.
But that body! You look like a gnarled toe.
Those beady red eyes! I just don't know.
Still, I suppose there is someone for you.
Of a billion lady cicadas, one will make do.
You better get moving; time is running out.
Two weeks to live and you're just lying about.
Get up in the trees - can't you hear the roar?
Somewhere up there is a girl you will adore.
Go now, flap those wings, reach for the sky.
No, that's my leg, but not bad for a first try.
Okay, now you've got it, I knew you would.
You're the marvelous little insect that could.
Now get on up there, mingle, find a date.
Tell her she's pretty, then quickly procreate.
Godspeed! I'll be cheering for you down here.
Jeeze, I can't believe it, I'm starting to tear.
Hey, go higher, watch out for that...splat!
SUV. Guess I shoulda warned him about that.
