Contest deadline (really!)   Thursday is the last day to submit your paragraphs for the contest. I’ve received a number of good entries, but there’s still room for more. I’m surprised that I haven’t heard from a few individuals. You know who you are. If you don’t participate I may never talk to you again. Not that that should influence your decision. The Ides of March   Today is my birthday. Last year on this day my story “Pattern and Chance” was published in McSweeney’s. This morning I got an email from the editor of Mangrove literary journal (put out by the University of Miami) telling me that a story I submitted there will be published in the on-line version of that magazine. Ironically, the Mangrove editor had found out about me by stumbling upon the McSweeney's piece recently. The Ides of March. A pretty shitty day for Julius Caesar.
