Some comedy bits are so memorable that a single line is all you need to bring them to mind. Sometimes that line will take you back many years. Sometimes you can actually hear the distinctive voices of the comedians delivering the words, just as you heard them for the first time literally a generation ago. Sometimes, at a party, you can utter those words and watch for the reaction. Sometimes they’ll fall flat, but sometimes if you are around just the right people, people of a certain age, people with a certain counter-cultural appreciation, those words will resonate and someone will respond: “No, man. I’m Dave. Open up. I got the stuff…”
