Secondhand Lions

This is an awesome movie! We rented it this weekend for Hannah and her friend Morgan.I started watching it with them and couldn't stop.I laughed,I cried. It was a very good movie.

We got a call last night from a very disturbed momma.Apparently,Hannah and Morgan had called Morgan's little boyfriend while Randy and I were outside. She ranted and raved for 15 minutes to Randy, for a message(yes message) left on their machine telloing the little boy they were both at our house. Now,I don't let Hannah talk to boys on the phone.Which is why they snuck and done it.But come on!Randy would not give me the phone. He knew I would get hot right back.

I really think it was just a matter of two friends together and wanting to do something daring. It was one call and only a message.Let it go.

I told Randy he should have told her that Hannah wasn't allowed to be his girlfriend. He just sat there and let her rant.Ugh!

Defend your child!

Anyway!

And Then There Were Three

After having two girls, when I was told Seth was going to be a boy,I became terrified.I wanted another girl.I knew how to handle them.

But it wasn't to be.

Before he was even born the difference was noticeable. He felt like he was turning cartwheels and practicing his karate moves all at the same time while inside me.

It turns out my fear was justified.Seth is very different. He is more stubborn, and rougher at play than the girls are on their worst day. But,I wouldn't trade that little red headed monster for anything.

He has made my life complete.

The Simplicity of a Child

Somedays I wish I could go back to being a child. When the most pressing thought on my mind was which outfit looked best on Barbie.

I think you should start off life, for just a week,as an adult. Then you would appreciate your childhood more. You would enjoy life to it's fullest, you wouldn't be rushing to grow up,because you would already know what that was going to be like. And that it isn't all it's cracked up to be.

I watched Seth this morning, jumping up and down with unbridled glee,as his Bob The Builder coloring pictures were spit from my printer.I honestly can not remember the last time something excited me so much that I could not contain it.

I hope my children enjoy their childhood and understand they will have far longer to be adults than they will to be an innocent child. And that they make the most of it.

A Little "Misfortune"

Seth and I had lunch today at a Chinese resturant near our house. As always I tore into my fortune cookie at the end of the meal. Here was mine for today.....

"Serious trouble will bypass you"

Whew...barely slid by that!Wait.....what bypassed me?How will I know my fortune came true?

I'm not sure I like this fortune much. What happened to "You will be rich"?

Weird Times Two

Have you ever felt someone just didn't like you?Without really giving you a chance?I am having that problem.

I think I am a reasonably nice and fun person to be around.I am usually upbeat and a devoted friend.

I feel kind of like you do when you realize that someone doesn't love your kids like you do.I don't know.I am rambling here.

I can usually let petty things like this roll off my back.....but this has been going on for a few years.

Ahh well...can't win them all.

It's All In The Hips

This weekend was the best I have had in awhile.Since we moved in August,I have been missing my friends desperately.Saturday four of them came down to see me.We had so much fun.

We went to "Beef O' Brady's" and had some wings and beer at lunch. Then we came back to my house and had margarita's while I highlighted Jenn's and Amber's hair.Oh,and by the way girls...I don't stand behind any work I do after several margarita's!!lol. No,it all turned out fine.

Joni,Amber and Nancy had to head back home to pick up kids but Jenn stayed the night with me.Randy kept the kiddos while Jenn and I went to Seville Quarter<

Last Saturday was Jenn's birthday,so we went into Rosie O' Grady's,the piano bar,and I had them sing to her.Now if you have never been sung to at Rosie's,you are missing quite the treat! They humiliate you by singing something like.."She's got crabs" before they actually sing Happy Birthday. It is priceless.

Then when it got later we went into Phineas Phoggs and danced for hours. I learned something.....you can suddenly pack an empty dance floor when two females get out there together and start dancing nasty.lmao.I already knew this...but I learned it all over again. It was a riot! I took Jenn home yesterday afternoon, and she and her husband are coming to see us again in a few weeks. So I have something to look forward to!!

The Tree's Are Coming Down!

As most of you know,I lost my sister-in-law in a car accident June 29,2003.Miranda was 28 years old and left behind a husband and four small children.

Today is Miranda's birthday.

This will be a difficult day for my mother-in-law.But somehow made easier from one little phone call this morning.According to people driving behind Miranda, she just drove off the road, never hitting her brakes, and hit a Bradford Pear tree in the median. These tree's are huge. After this happened I started digging and found that any type of landscaping either in a median,or right-of-way should not be over 8 inches in diameter. These tree's ranged from 45-56 inches.

I went to the state highway department with my findings.I was appalled to find that they had already realized the tree's were in violation, but had made no move to remove them.Basically they had just hoped no "joe citizen" would learn about these restrictions.I started the process to make them remove the tree's.

Starting Febuary 1st,these trees(in a sixty mile stretch of road) will be made into mulch.

I know that I can not bring Miranda back, but I can possably save some one else's life.Autopsy revealed that Miranda died from head trauma, however they think she blacked out from low blood sugar, thus causing the wreck. She may have died even if the tree's were not there.

But,unfortunately we will never know.
