Where are the parents?

Parenting is a full time job. Most parents understand this. You can not leave children alone at young ages to fend for themselves,or to keep themselves occupied.

They will find something to get into .

Proof....I read in the newspaper this past week that the youngest girl to give birth in Alabama in 2003 was a mere TEN years old.A child herself.

My oldest daughter will be ten in March. She doesn't stay at home alone,I feel she is to young.I just do not understand how a child this age is alone with a boy long enough to have sex......never mind that she knew what it was and "how" to do it.

Children at this age fail to see the long term impact on their life.

It is heartbreaking to me.

Long years ago....

In the Champion household there were five children. We were born within eight years of each other. Our mother had the patience of Job and rarely lost her cool with the rowdy kids. There were times, looking back, that I do not know how she stayed sane.We were quite a handful at best.

At Christmas, someone brought the pictures out. This is a usual occurance at holidays. The most embarrassing are passed around and laughed at over and over.Stories to go with the pictures are remembered.

Daniel's head bandaged up at age 6.....where he and Beth were fighting over the "hippity hop" and she whacked him with it,sending his head through the glass door.

Beth, with her hair to her waist, except for the "bangs",which were cut to the scalp.

Stephan and Ernest with completely bald heads,in a family picture.Trying not to laugh. They didn't want to get their pictures made so they shaved their heads in hopes of getting out of it.No such luck.

Me,on the potty.Wearing nothing but a smile and a sun-bonnet.The boys love to tease me about this one.

These pictures and the teasing are as much a tradition in my family as the christmas tree.We look forward to going through them, remembering our childhood, and now sharing them with our children.
