Labdanum, Part Deux
This is the part where I try combining it with other scents that supposedly compliment. There's just a tiny little problem, though.
It's
a fairly well-known fact that the odor of violets can only register in
our scent receptors for a fleeting moment, and then it goes away for a
while before coming back again. Try it sometime, you'll see.
Apparently, I have the same problem with Labdanum. I didn't notice
yesterday, because I was going back and forth anyway and I was only
sniffing one thing. But today, with 11 different test strips sporting
various labdanum combinations, I thought I could sit down in one place,
as with the rue, and just sniff them each and report my impressions.
But after sniffing the first strip, I couldn't smell anything else. I
thought maybe it was just the strip, perhaps I didn't get enough oil to
last for a few hours. I added more oil and tried again. But no, it was
me. I could smell each strip, if it was the first one I smelled. But
after the first one, I had to walk away and give my nose a rest before
I could smell anything else. This makes it hard to sniff the "control"
(labdanum only) strip, then sniff the compound strip, and compare them.
Can't do it. So, in order to get my impressions together, I'm just
going to do one combination per day.
Today I'm trying Labdanum plus Lavender. Will report later, once I can smell again. ;)
