Animal Testing
So, now I have a teenager. Her face has heard the news, and is acting
accordingly. I made up a small bottle of treatment "milk" with a pump
top, we'll see how it goes. Since it contains retinols, she'll have to
use it at night until we can determine whether it increases her
photosensitivity.
To
start, I used the lowest therapeutic percentages of everything. I
figure that since I'm using several actives, they have a chance of
acting together to make an overall stronger impact so I don't want to
overdose on anything. Besides photosensitivity, I'll be watching for
redness, signs of irritation, signs of dryness or flaking, and overall
I'll be watching to see whether the number of breakouts increases,
decreases or stays the same. I'll also be watching to see how long zits
take to heal when they *do* emerge. Yay! All it took was 28 hours of
labor and 13 years of my life to be able to play like this.
Ingredients: - naturally-derived retinoic acids - alpha and beta hydroxies (salicylic and lactic acids, mainly) - cucumber extract - calendula extract - olive leaf extract
The
base is an oil-free, inert gel of hydroxyethylcellulose. I might have
spelled that wrong. The actives thinned the gel out to a milk. It also
made it somewhat opaque (milky, yet grainy). That part doesn't really
concern me right now. |
