Darwin Returns
Hey, guess who's back? I had been making kissy/chirpy noises every
time I went out to the car at work, and there had been no
answer...until this afternoon when I was leaving. I went out to the
car, made kissy sounds...and Baby Bird came flying out from under a
parked car and started chewing my fingers off, screaming for food. You
should have seen the dropped jaws next door at the tattoo place! Hee
hee.
So...baby bird is back at home for now. He's eaten 9
mealworms. I didn't hand-feed them, I held a bowl and let him fish for
them himself. He's got the idea, I guess he's just not totally ready
to do it himself yet.

Perfume, Life, and Soap
So, now that my sense of smell is back, I'm wearing Annick Goutal's Petite Cherie today.
(picture links to a seller, hopefully so that they won't mind me borrowing the image)
A fruity-floral fragrance in which vanilla, peach, musk rose and freshly cut grass recall purity and boldness.
To me, it's almost like a sweet-tart candied rose. Fresh, yes - but very intense, tangy. Must be the peach. It's not a favorite, I don't think, but it's nice when I want Big Rose.
What are you wearing?
Also, the baby bird has flown. No, not a secret code. New Bird took off yesterday of his own volition, and seemed happy enough that he didn't want to come back even when offered food. I think he's fine, I think he was ready. Chicken had been teaching him a bit about how to scratch around for food, rather than just standing around and screaming for it. He'd been becoming gradually less willing to be hand-fed, pecking at little nibbles rather than gulping down big chunks without tasting them first. He'd been getting more accurate in his flying, chasing me around the house and landing on my head at times, or checking out every shelf in the greenhouse, hummingbird-style, on the day he finally took off. I think he's fine, as long as he learns to fear cars. I wish we'd had a chance to film a feeding before he left, but that's okay.
Today I have a new loaf of Planets out of the mold, and later I need to make new loaves of MisterX and Osage Orangewood. I'm working on spiffing up the site and adding perfumes, etc. to the lineup. I really need a whole site overhaul, but for now I'm just trying to make it less unwieldy over there.
Lorelei had a swimming lesson today to get her ready for trying out for the swim team at the high school. The girl said that this one lesson should be enough, that Lorelei caught on really quickly. I need to find out the schedule on the public pool so she can practice a few more times before tryouts, just in case. I also made her sit down and immediately write down everything she could remember from the lesson, as soon as it was over, to help her jog her memory the next time she's swimming. It's going to be a little bit difficult getting rid of several years' worth of bad swimming habits.
Okay, without further ado, here is today's Soap Baby:

Planets Cosmic Spice, a blend of Black Cardamom and Tanzanian Clove on a base of Nepalian Amber and Musk.
Okay, back to the kitchen. I made MisterX Angry Skin Soap today, but I still have to do loaves of Strawberry Smoothie, Osage Orangewood, Yuzu Japanese Grapefruit, and July's Soap of the Month Club Selection...a surprise! :D
