This will be in the local news for awhile...a tragic story we had all but forgotten Questions on Opal Turn to How, Why?. But this much is clear: The fortuitous discovery of remains believed to be Opal's is an important chapter in a case that has perplexed authorities, unsettled a small-town community, and caused much grief for Opal's family since she was abducted in spring 1999. This time, one year ago, I weighed 297 lbs to start the month of January. I reached a low of 232 lbs in September. One year ago, I determined that if I was going to live a longer life, getting my butt in gear was mandatory. I approached it with discipline, no "fad" diets, and lots of exercise and good clean eating. After reaching my goals of weight loss, which I've done, I allowed myself room to expand during the holiday season, and I did. I reached about 254, but am already down to about 245. My maintenance weight is probably around 238 to 240. I weight train, and I am 6' 3" tall with a large frame. I estimate my body fat to be around 15% presently, but probably got it down to about 12% pre-holiday. One thing I wasn't sure about when I allowed myself some "growing room" these last few weeks was whether I could regain the motivation to keep it off and to continue to workout. I admit it was a little tough, but once I decided it was "now or never" I made the decision to do it and to keep it up. I have no doubt that I'm back in the groove now and will continue my pursuit of better health and reaching age 50 this year in the best shape of my life. comment [] |

Men's Health editor, Lou Schuler, shares insightful post in his blog about the characteristics of long-term relationships...funny and thoughtful. Lou's Experience of What It Takes to Build a Long-Term Relationship. 1. OPM (other people's marriages) always look better than yours. My wife and I, in the early years of our marriage, used to be amazed at how much happier other couples seemed. Sometimes we'd despair after seeing people who, by all appearances, were just perfect for each other, and who presented a fissure-free union. We wised up the first time we discovered one of these couples was on the brink of divorce. [TexasTodd News] comment [] |
