In Search of the Perfect Chili
Longing to have just one signature meal to my name, I'm seeking the perfect chili. The very best was a freewheeling concoction tossed together by my neighbor a few weeks ago. I tried to recreate it last week, and the result was a puzzling bitter but tasteless mess.
Tonight, I'm a step closer. I thought the secret was jalapeno peppers, but clearly I need to conjure my own culinary magic, which hasn't materialized in these 37 years but, hey, not dead yet.
So today, I cleaned the house, did laundry, and cooked a meal. Check me out. I'm like a housewife.
