Talk about art for art's sake!  These street paintings are the very antithesis of public sculpture. They're not made for eternity, they're not cast in regal bronze. They're made from chalk, the most fragile of medium, and intended to last weeks at most. But even the most casual art scuffer would take pause at these beauties!  They're both made by Kurt Wenner who is designated as a "Master Street Painter". National Geographic even did a doc on his work ("Masterpieces in Chalk") in 1987.

Enjoy!
