The Scouts come to Iraq

A picture named brownie_figure_02.jpg

It is well known that the Administration thinks the biased news media has been burying the abundance of good news from Iraq.

To rectify this problem, the White House's Web-site publishes daily an "Iraq Fact of the Day" provided by the Office of Global Communications.

As Mark Hobak of Fried Green al-Qaedas noted, yesterday's fact of the day reported the reintroduction of the Boys Scouts and Girls Scouts to Iraq:

Fact of the Day Iraqis to Participate in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts

Thousands of children throughout Iraq will soon be able to participate in an Iraqi Boy Scout and Girl Scout program. The scouting initiative was launched recently with the backing of the World Scouting Organization, the Arab Scout Organization, and some 100 former scouters serving in Iraq. The program will allow boys and girls of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to join together in activities that promote good citizenship, community service, honor, and self-confidence. Volunteer scouting was first introduced to Iraq in 1921 but was terminated during the Saddam Hussein era. The reestablishment of scouting signals a brighter future for Iraq's youth and is another step forward in reconnecting Iraq with the world community.

Let it not be said that there aren't good things happening in Iraq.

But did the CPA forget to consult Karl Rove first? Because the Base may be none too pleased by the news. In Texas, for example, they're boycotting the Girls Scouts, because they preach lesbianism, abortion on demand, and the use of dildos.

As for the Boy Scouts, although the U.S. branch has maintained strong family values (and in retrospect, weren't they so right?), the World Scouting Organization is lost in godless cultural relativism. They hold regular peace workshops promoting "intercultural understanding." I mean, when you read the following, is there any doubt of what they're really for?

Using some of the words in the different group reports, the leader will ask: Is the idea of an integrated intercultural and tolerant society, living in peace at home and abroad an (impossible) dream? If it is not impossible, let's make it a reality!

If it can become a reality, what can I do personally (in my Scout unit, family, school, community) to bring about the necessary changes?

The only thing that can be worse than an Iraqi civil war is for the country to turn into a forward base for the spread of liberal decadence throughout the Middle East. Today, Iraq gets the Scouts ... tomorrow, Jerusalem becomes Sodom and Gomorrah.
