What do you think?

WWDT's correspondents took to the streets to ask ordinary Americans, "What did you think about the photos showing Iraqi prisoners being abused by U.S. troops at the Abu Ghraib prison?"

"This is war. It's not right, but war's not right. Given the circumstances, I don't see how they would not do something - after seeing their buddies dragged through the streets. They're over there to give the Iraqis freedom, and they're getting killed every day."

"Why blame Rumsfeld when he wasn't even involved? At a time of war, you have to stay the course and you certainly shouldn't change leaders."

"As far as I know they weren't hurt, they were humiliated. But think of the thousands of bodies in the mass graves over there and what Saddam did to them."

"It deserved the apologies it received. I cannot help but say, however, that those who were responsible for killing 3,000 Americans on September 11th, 2001, never apologized. Those who have killed hundreds of Americans in uniform in Iraq working to liberate Iraq and protect our security have never apologized. And those who murdered and burned and humiliated four Americans in Fallujah a while ago never received an apology from anybody."

Announcement

This blog will be moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, in August, where I will be a visiting professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Michigan.

It will be nice to talk philosophy with some of the luminaries there.

But to be honest, my true reason for visiting is to have lunch with Juan Cole.
