Eternal Vigilance

Arizonans Ed and Tonie Negrin, whom I have mentioned before, have added another SUV to their collection of America's Trucks -- their line of remodeled trucks dedicated to America's efforts in the Global War on Terror.
Their latest creation: Eternal Vigilence.
Eternal Vigilance is the price of freedom! This truck features photos from both war fronts (Iraq and Afghanistan) as well as from Gitmo and Homeland Security. On the driver's side are the photos of our vigilant men and women in uniform at work. On the passenger side, images of our leaders. Both sides are emblazoned with the reminder "WE ARE A NATION AT WAR" so those who see it will remember those in harms way.
For their patriotic contributions in the GWOT, the Negrins were invited to the Pentagon for a second time to show off their trucks.
The couple parked two Chevrolet 4-door sport utility vehicles in the Pentagon's outdoor center courtyard today. A thin vinyl membrane featuring colorful photos of service members in action, Defense Department leaders, and the commander in chief overlays the trucks' skins.
"It started as 'flag' trucks and then evolved into what they are right now," Ed Negrin explained, adding that the couple owns two more similarly decorated vehicles. The vehicle program he's dubbed "America's Truck" is a mobile statement that American troops engaged in the war on terrorism are "in harm's way defending freedom."

At the Pentagon the pair thanked troops for their service, explained the purpose of their efforts, and gave away stuffed teddy bears representing each service branch and Bibles.
And by inviting the Negrins to the Pentagon, the Brass got to see the results of their own investment.
U.S. Central Command first provided photos used for decorating the trucks, Ed noted. Most images on the trucks today came from DoD's Joint Combat Camera Center, he noted, with others provided by other military and civilian sources.
That is not to say, however, that the Negrins don't provide the lionshare of the funding.
After 9/11, the pair said they started plowing around 25 percent of their profits [from their delivery business] into patriotic appliqués for their SUVs and pickup trucks, and other troop- support endeavors.
But in the eyes of the Negrins, the whole effort is more than worth it. They don't see it simply as a patriotic duty. It's also a spiritual calling.
It's our hope and prayer that this truck serves to bring you both, to your knees in gratitude to the God who loves you, and to your feet to cheer on those who have gone before you.
The Negrins are on a nationwide tour of military bases. Be sure to catch them and their trucks when they come to your home town. It will raise your patriotic spirits and bring you closer to the Almighty.
