The Money Pit

The AP is reporting that Britain's Liberal Democrats and Christian Aid, with support from the accounting firm KPMG, are accusing the Coalition Provisional Authority of losing billions of dollars of Iraqi funds.

Christian Aid also notes that the majority of reconstruction contracts have been given to U.S. firms, which charge up to 10 times more than Iraqi firms for the same work.

The fact that these groups and the AP fail to mention how poorly Saddam Hussein managed Iraq's finances just shows how blatantly partisan they are.

Homeland Security

A picture named diplomatclosed.jpg

If you've seen Fahrenheit 9/11 by now, you may remember a scene in which Michael Moore describes the Zytech "safe-room" -- a closet-sized safe, capable of protecting one person within from all external threats, both foreign and domestic.

I was immediately interested in purchasing one for myself. Regular readers of WWDT may recall that I take "sheltering-in-place" very seriously (e.g. here and here).

So I looked up the company on the Web. "Safe-rooms" start at the low, low price of $8,900. And check out the features you can add to the basic model:

All Zytech Safe-Rooms can be ordered with a variety of equipment and options including ...

  • Nuclear, Biological & Chemical Attack Filtration Units
  • Automatic/Manual Fire Supression Systems
  • Cell/Satellite Phone Systems
  • Emergency Oxygen Kits
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Folding Personnel Seats
  • Ballistic/Forced Entry/Fire-Proof Windows
  • Emergency Rations
  • Defensive Gun Ports
  • Video Monitoring & Surveillance
  • Temperature & Humidity Control
  • Emergency Power Generation

Yes the world is no longer safe as it used to be ...

ZYTECH ENGINEERING helps to make it a little SAFER!

And more affordable! With features like these, who needs to buy a house?
