a big, fat zit
The monthly district sales meeting ended a couple of hours ago, but I'm still digesting the experience. I'll have a lot to say tonight.
In other news, I woke up with a big ugly zit over my right eye brow. It's a whopper, the size of Montana, and all the Avon concealer in the known universe can't hide this puppy. I used the tawny brown eye Glimmerstick to "enhance" the hair line and hopefully cover the zit. Now I look like Groucho Marx with lipgloss.
It's almost time to pick up the kids from school, so I'm going to take a few moments and whip up some marinated tomatoes:
Birdie's Grandma's Marinated Tomatoes
- 1 perfectly ripe tomato per person (and I can stil hear her say this line in the recipe, which she would recite as we made it together.)
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- A big dab of Dijon mustard
- A smashed clove of garlic
- Salt and Pepper
- Olive Oil, but only the Good Stuff
- 1 stem of fresh basil
Cut the tomatoes into six wedges each. Mix the vinegar and mustard and garlic and salt and pepper and olive oil in a big wooden bowl.
Add the tomato wedges and gently toss. Add the basil, chopped, and more fresh pepper at the end.
Marinate for 4 hours or until you can't stand the wait any longer!
