Good Vibrations?
I dropped two hundred fifty Avon brochures around town over the past four days. The calls are trickling in. Big sellers this campaign are the new Avon Dangerous Curves Mascara and the new Anew Clinical Laser System.
This morning I am tired, a bit addled, wondering about the future.
Last night a customer called. The phone rang as I undressed, and I grabbed the receiver, t-shirt half over my head. I held the phone to my shirt-covered ear and mumbled. "Hello?"
"Avon Birdie?" A loud nasal drone blasted through my t-shirt. I recognized the voice right away. Halitosis Woman. I pictured her sitting by her phone, blonde pageboy hair not quite resting on her shoulders, her lips lined in Perfect Plum, and the world's most foul breath escaping in whisps of smoke around her teeth. Every time I deliver her goods I breath through my mouth, try to avoid taking in the odor.
"Well Birdie, I am holding a Passion Party this Saturday. I'd like to get a bunch of those mini bubble baths to give away as door prizes. And you're invited, ok? It's a no men allowed party. We'll have wine and snacks. You can bring your brochures and pass them around if you like."
So, anyway. Looks like I have plans for Saturday night! I'm nervous! I think I'm more nervous about being in the same room with The Breath than I am about the actual Passion Party.
Today I am wearing one of the new Avon Foundation bras, the Bali "Seductive Curves" bra. Ooo la la! It's sexy hot! I am working on a review of the entire line, with photos! (uh, just kidding about the photos!)
Back to work.
