Phasers on stun!
Today is the Halloween party at my youngest son's elementary school. As Room Mom, I will be on hand to pass around vanilla cupcakes and pour the apple juice. 8 is dressed in his Star Trek uniform, and at 9:30 am I will dress as a Trekkie, too, in a one-piece red and black jumpsuit I fashioned from two ancient dresses I bought at the Salvation Army and the sewing machine I traded for green stamps when I was eighteen. I will brush my hair back and add lots of hairpray to emulate Captain Janeway's helmet 'do, and I will carry thirty cupcakes (2 a piece, including the teacher) decorated with tiny plastic spiders in my Gramma's old tupperware bin.
I also fashioned small fabric satchels and filled them with Avon samples for the moms. Moms deserve some treats, too!
