Who or What is Chiron?

We are told in mythology that Chiron is a wandering, wounded healer, but what does this mean in Astrology? Chiron is the symbol of how we heal our wounds by rising to our better potential as immortals, as well as our metaphysical journey where we come to understand how we are here to heal others.
