George Tenet, the CIA, and Realpolitik

By Robert Wilkinson

Well, now we’re told by CBS News that George Tenet, head of the CIA, is quitting to “take one for the team.” I’m shocked, shocked….

So what’s the big deal? He needed to bail, because he presided over the two worst US intelligence failures since the fall of the Berlin Wall. Said to be a nice guy, it was inevitable that he’d have to leave since the job of head spook probably precludes being THAT nice a guy. And funny how we’re told (in an aside) that he was “pressured” by Rummy and Black Dick Cheney to push the administration’s agenda. Read more...

Terrorism Alerts and Other General Hysteria

by Robert Wilkinson

Well, I'm so glad that those stolen propane trucks were found in Laredo, Texas. We were told to become extremely paranoid, since we were also told that propane is a terrorist weapon of choice. The FBI say they're relieved. My question is, if we have the capacity to photograph a license plate via spy satellites, it seems strange to me that we can't find gigantic propane trucks. It's not like the cops can't figure that one out. So I suppose it's just another red herring floated for our paranoia. I feel safer already. And we are also told that they are investigating the theft of 15 gas canisters that contain nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and oxygen. Any middle schooler could tell you the thieves are getting high, not planning to blow anything up. We really are funny monkeys.....

Hello again --

Well, I had a total system crash mid-morning on June 1 (along with about 8 or 10 others I've heard from since then), but as you can see, there is hope for those of us on Userland software. I actually managed to salvage the files off the old hard drive and reload it onto another computer without losing my entire blog with all that's been written so far. Apparently that's a miracle in itself.

So Professor Robert is back in the Captain's chair, and all is more or less right with this segment of reality. For those of you who watch the news, I note that even the official channels of official propaganda are finally reporting on stuff you've read here on The Outer Edge. So read on...
