Shell Oil and Price Manipulation - No problem

by Robert Wilkinson

In a surprisingly quick response to increased public heat, Shell Oil now says it plans to run its Bakersfield refinery at normal levels through the summer, revising its own internal forecast released just a few days ago. More details about this overt attempt at future price manipulation are in the article I wrote yesterday. Shell still plans to close the extremely profitable refinery October 1, despite the fact it will drive up gas prices at a time we are supposed to need more, not less fuel available in the marketplace. Of course Shell says it's financially necessary to close the plant. Maybe it should be impounded and run by the Feds, since apparently the poor overworked oil companies just can't seem to make an insanely profitable refinery economically feasable during this time of national emergency.
