Astrology Big Picture at October 2004 - Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces
by Robert Wilkinson
Some advanced astrologers have put interesting questions to me at the last several Full Moon services I conduct almost every month in Santa Monica. I thought I should try to answer some things by way of an article. The material may be advanced, but I hope all of you can get something from what I'm describing. It certainly explains a lot of what's been happening for awhile, and why there is so much polarization.
Jupiter and Saturn are primary symbols of our larger social-cultural process. They show the collective imagination and fears, progress into a future and the rules and limitations that surround every step forward humanity takes. The planets farther out, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, indicate larger forces of transformation and so-called "forces beyond our control." They are the larger triple invisible energy that pervades creation to which we are all subject.
Over the past several years, Jupiter has been in the signs of Gemini, Cancer, Leo, and Virgo. During that span of 4 years it squared Uranus, opposed Pluto, opposed Chiron, opposed Neptune, opposed Uranus, and squared Pluto.
Oppositions and squares challenge right action based in right realization and the ability to use imagination constructively and not deceitfully. In any case, you can see how these oppositions during the first 4 years of the new century might describe what's been going on in the larger atmosphere. Then the "great septile" activated in June with Jupiter's station in a biseptile-triseptile with Neptune and Pluto. Of course that cut loose a lot of weird, compulsive, and destiny-revealing forks in the road for everyone, and activated the points in everyone's chart outlined in the link I just gave.
Then we look at Saturn, which has been in late Taurus, Gemini and Cancer during the same span. It squared Uranus, then opposed Pluto, then quincunxed Neptune, then quincunxed Pluto while forming various "Yod" configurations with Jupiter and other planets. As you know, Yods force major "expansions through sacrifice" for us all, wherever they fall in our birth charts. The links above will give you more information about all of these effects in all our charts these past four years. Polarization and conflict, change and release, opposition and awareness, dynamic action moving us all into unknown realms, to break free of obsolete perceptions and inadequate modes of response.
And now we've finally gotten to Jupiter in Libra, quincunx Uranus this month but then in harmonious aspects with Neptune and Pluto. And the recent clustering of planets at late Virgo and early Libra will definitely bring much activity in that area of the chart for the next 2 1/4 years.
