Astrology Hot Zones for May-June 2005 - Full Moon Lunar Eclipse Effect for Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces

by Robert Wilkinson

The coming lunar eclipse Full Moon occurs at 3:06 am PDT, April 24, 2005, at 5 Scorpio. As with Solar eclipses, Lunar eclipses also function to shut down the light, so to speak, while fulfilling processes, feelings, and lifestyles associated with the signs involved. The number of hours a lunar eclipse lasts is said to have an influence equivalent to the same number of months, i.e., this eclipse will last 4 hrs. 10 minutes, so its influence should last 4+ months. It begins 07:50 UT, and is greatest at 09:55 UT. Its shadow will be visible in North, Central, and South America, New Zealand, eastern Australia, eastern Indonesia, most of Antarctica, the Pacific Ocean except the extreme nw part, and the western Atlantic Ocean. The end is visible in western North America, most of Mexico, the southern tip of South America, Indonesia, eastern Asia, New Zealand, Australia, Antarctica except coastal Queen Maud Land, the Pacific Ocean, and the eastern Indian Ocean. Observers in eastern North America will experience moonset before the eclipse ends, but those further west will be able to witness the entire event.

Any Full Moon begins the fulfillment of the promise of the preceding New Moon, in this case the Solar Eclipse of April 8 at 20 Aries. So the promise of that New Moon will be fulfilled by the realizations and fulfillments of the 5 Taurus-Scorpio axis, which relates it directly to last October's lunar eclipse at the 6 Scorpio-Taurus axis. This Full Moon will take the light of 5 Taurus and focus it through the lens of 5 Scorpio. This would imply that we will come to illumination through "the widow at the open grave," finding "revelation of meaning behind fleeting appearances," and a "birth from illusion into reality." It also implies that the door to life renewal will open as we discard the past. Even though the direct effect will be seen over the next few months, it is also important to remember that once a set of causes and effects are set into motion by an eclipse, it usually leads to major consequences down the road, even after the specific time span of direct influence.

The focus of the Moon is "A massive rocky shore unchanged by centuries of storms," implying that we shall see the "absolutely stable elements of life," and find confidence through perception of fundamental truths for us. We'll be given a chance to examine any spiritual inertia we or others are indulging, and since Moon in Scorpio is great for self-purification, it's an excellent way and time to regenerate the best from what is ending. The other benefit to this particular Full Moon is that it is the Wesak Festival, or the celebration of the Buddha's birthday. It is one of the highest spiritual festivals of the year, and opens the door to the renewal of Buddha energy for the whole planet for another year. Here's a link to last year's post about this powerful festival. I won't go too deeply into who Buddha was and what he did to bless the entire world through teachings of compassion around 500 BCE which other religions soon adopted, as that is a whole article in itself. However, here's a link to a couple of articles I did a while ago about the sources of human suffering and the antidotes to them which are derived from the teaching of Buddha.

To remind you, last October's lunar eclipse featured the Moon on a degree of bridge building and cooperating to overcome obstacles that are a natural part of evolution, while the Sun was a degree of avidity and tearing oneself away from the known and familiar. So the light of a new passion has begun to find form in cooperative activity since then. For everyone, there have been conflicts that required us to nourish ourselves on past virtue or wisdom so that we could resist inferior energies that intruded on our lives. We were shown that past inspirations have yielded results through the trust we've had, or our trust has shown us a new form of inspiration during these past several months.

This Full Moon occurs with Venus conjunct the Sun with Uranus trine the Moon and sextile Sun. Since the Moon is biseptile Neptune, septile Pluto, and triseptile Mercury, this eclipse will be influenced by the Grand Irrationality, with four of the seven points activated during the period of this eclipse influence. This will add an edge to the usual intensity of a Full Moon in Scorpio. Obviously this will affect Aries, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Sag, and Pisces planets and areas of our charts tremendously. This lunation shows that we've all had a chance in the near past for phenomenal productivity as shown by the separating Mars-Pluto and Venus-Uranus sextiles. The only difficult aspects are the Mercury-Jupiter opposition and the wide Venus square Neptune, which I'll write about soon, since they're hot next week. Add what I write then to what you know about this eclipse, and you'll see the bigger picture.

Another factor is that this year it falls on Passover, adding an even richer symbolism to what is ending and what will endure. So perhaps some things will die, while other new life will be spared whatever "epidemic" spreads among that which has not been blessed according to the need of our times. We will certainly see dramatic results directly connected to this eclipse in late July, late October, and late January 2006 when the Sun squares or opposes its Solar and Lunar eclipse positions, as well as when Mars and Jupiter transit the eclipse-activated degrees. Mars will activate the Solar eclipse July 9-11 and the Taurus point August 3-5. Jupiter will oppose the Solar Aries point in early September, and move across the Lunar eclipse Scorpio degree the second and third weeks of November. Jupiter's transit also bookends the next Solar eclipse on October 3, 2005 at 11 Libra and the next Lunar eclipse on October 17 at 25 Aries, so Jupiter being that intimately involved in both of those eclipses as well as the recent Solar eclipse means we'll all have an adventure or two, especially those with planets in Sagittarius and Pisces.

For early Aries, don't be too possessive or focused on losses or apparent defeats. Release to regenerate, and find a new way to satisfy a deep need. Reverse what's dissipating your resources. For other Aries, see how your desires and magnetism are taking you deeper in your sensitivity in relationships, and that your feelings are telling you a lot about what others resist or accept. You'll see what you value or possess that assists your creativity.

For early Taurus, it's time to let go to be illuminated, and remember that you cannot lose what is still true for you. You're a great mirror, very sensitive to others, but what you're feeling is more your partner's business than your own. For other Tauruses, retreat, meditate, close things out, get clear about motives, reverse stagnant work conditions. and see a health need requiring elimination or regeneration. Your ability to concentrate is great right now.

For early Gemini, close out an old way of communicating or viewing things while eliminating stuck stuff in health or work. You may lose assets or values, but will also see what is rock solid. For other Geminis, some friends will leave, while others will bring you a greater enjoyment or help your creativity. You may find a form of self expression that increases your resources or gives you insights into the public's values.

For early Cancer, the light is on your goals, ambitions, and friendships, and you'll no doubt close the door on those things which no longer have value. Focus is on your children, your creativity, and learning how to have fun again after this time of Saturn in Cancer. You're in charge of partnership reorganization. For other Cancers, this eclipse will bring recognition, but show you what's ending. You will return to the roots or some past habit to achieve stability.

For early Leo, you've reached the culmination of flowering in your public persona, and should find value and substance in the role you're going to play on the world stage. You will see what is stable from your past. For other Leos, you're letting go of old simple truths to find even greater ones, as well as more direct and powerful ways of communicating your knowledge. Since your words will have greater power in the future, be moderate in how you express yourself.

For early Virgo, you'll see an clear, simple, and practical truth that clears the way to a more prosperous future if you're disciplined and organized. You'll recognize which of your friends are emotionally stable, and which are toxic. Partnerships will benefit. For other Virgos, you're in a time of needing to let go to regenerate, and releasing old values and resources that don't matter any more, or lead to loss rather than gain. Let go of old stubborn motives that lead to sorrow.

For early Libra, you will find a more powerful self-image as a result of recent losses of friends due to financial partings. See what you really need instead of playing to your vanity. Regenerate by seeing what's stable, letting go of everything else. For other Libras, let go of old simplistic ways of relating to others' values. See recent endings in relationships as showing you goals you no longer want to capture. Do purifications, don't be touchy.

For early Scorpio, you should be seeing others very clearly, and know what's ending. You're extremely sensitive, and are feeling the call to a more enduring future. For other Scorpios, your feelings will either comfort you or lead to forms of self destruction. Guard your health. Be gentle as you say goodbye to stubborn workers who won't adapt. Get a better sense of how to regenerate your health through letting go of old ways of showing off publicly.

For early Sagittarius, this is a time of letting go to prepare for a new work or future. Retreat, seek seclusion, meditate to regenerate. The light is on your health and work, so be clear about what needs adjusting. For other Sagittarians, Pluto is still putting you under pressure, so learn what forms of play you need to let go of, while regenerating friendships that can help you to goals and ambitions you may not know you have. Old truths leave, and deeper insights arrive.

For early Capricorns, you'll find a new form of enjoyable self-expression. Find a new creativity or way to play while seeing how your friends are helping you to your goals or not. Those you're with are more intense than before. For other Capricorns, let go of old stubborn ways of viewing the past or your childhood, and be more sensitive to how your feelings are or are not bringing you the type of recognition you want. You'll see your partner's endurance.

For early Aquarius, it's time to see how others in your childhood helped your illumination. It's the end of an old home environment with a stabilizing of your work. Regenerate your health. For other Aquarians, get clear about what ideas and perceptions need to leave your life, or how you need to regenerate your learning or openness to a higher spiritual view of things. This eclipse should bring you some unique gifts and circumstances. Travel is in your future.

For early Pisces, you will let go of old ways of expressing yourself and old interpretations. You will become more intense in your search for truths that you can easily and confidently express. Work and relationships should go well if you attend to details and don't worry. For other Pisceans, let go of old values that no longer work for you, or old things that block your regeneration. Your magnetism should bring you what you need, if you find the right concentration.
