A Brief Overview of What's Happening in May 2005

The planetary balance is temporarily moving out of strong Fire and Air into four weeks of major Earth. Get your practical ducks lined up, since we can now solidify the substance of recent new beginnings. Nail it down, nail it together, or pull the nails out of old hinderances and get ready to diversify radically in a few weeks. Mercury speeding from Aries through Taurus into Gemini shows the areas of our charts ruled by Gemini and Virgo will quicken substantially, as well as take interesting turns into new views and new ways of understanding things. Sun-Venus are steady, and Mars has moved into Pisces, affecting planets and houses with Aries and Scorpio emphasis. We got the authority and vision between Feb and April; now we get to close some things out, prepare for the next phase of intense activity to come in early June, and cultivate a compassionate and intuitive way of dealing with challenges and irritations. Mars gets very "tidal" in Pisces, so take time to rest, meditate, and don't let others drive your energies faster than you can safely go. Quarrels will exhaust those who initiate them, so to quote a great songwriter "go with the flow, wherever it goes, even if it flows right out of here."

The title of this month's article is a dead giveaway to the BIG news, which is several weeks of the Grand Irrationality. Along with the usual suspects (Saturn, Neptune, Pluto) this month the config is triggered multiple times by Sun-Mercury-Venus and Moon. As you know, these deal with critical forks in the road, where choices are made that affect our "destiny," determining future paths. Key to success is going with emotional intelligence when reason fails. Open to the non-rational forms of knowing, cooperate in pioneering group endeavors, and don't get worried or unnerved by the bizarre, ridiculous, weird, or edgy quality to things. These times of choice, decision, weirdness, non-rational behaviors, or when obsessive-compulsive people are most likely to lose it are May 4, 6-10, 12, 16-21, and 24-28.

The Solar Eclipse effect will continue to end old duties, chains and fears, and open relationships that will help you find a greater love, connectedness, harmony, a wisdom-form you can live with, and forms of festivity. We now also have the Lunar eclipse in effect for the next four months which will show us what of our past we must release to open the door to self-renewal, as well as the enduring elements in our life. Neptune going stationary retrograde in mid-May accents the theme of anticipating what's coming and unveiling whatever you need to, while Uranus shows that some will comsumate their ideal, transcend their previous hassles, and gain higher responsibilities because of their previous dedication to an ideal and willingness to stand for what they believe in.
