Aquarian Astrology at Work - Jones' Patterns for June-July-August 2005
by Robert Wilkinson
To pick up a thread that I've neglected too long, we are presently all living within a SeeSaw pattern. This is a configuration where a group of planets opposes another group of planets. For the next few months, except when the Moon changes the emphasis temporarily, we'll all be learning how to deal with the opposition or tension indicated by this Jones pattern. This means wherever the planets are falling in your chart, there will be a variety of oppositions at work, whether in your inner nature or in some situation or person you're dealing with. It is a polarizing influence, and great for realizations of a greater wholeness as long as the view doesn't become marginalized or peripheral. Learn how to stay at the balanced center of things, and act with sensitivity to contrasting views. Be a good mediator, and find the common ground as much as possible by seeing the "whole view" in situations. Dr. Jones states: The seesaw temperament has its existence in a world of conflicts, of definite polarities. It is capable of unique achievement, through a development of unsuspected relations in life, but it is also apt to waste its energies through its improper alignment with various situations. The Seesaw is presently defined by the Sun in Gemini, Mercury, Venus and Saturn in Cancer and then Leo, finishing up with Jupiter in Libra on the one side, and the Pluto in Sagittarius, Neptune in Aquarius, and Uranus in Pisces on the other, with Mars in Aries adding to the balance on that side. The Sagittarius, Aquarius, and Pisces influences are fairly stable, because they don't move very quickly through their signs, so this grouping will anchor which patterns come forth for a long time. I've explained some of these long-term influences in other articles at this link and this one regarding the Bucket pattern that predominated last winter, and will again come forth later this year.
At the present time we have Gemini opposed to Sag and Mars opposed Jupiter as the defining boundaries of the Seesaw. This is a challenge for us to find an authentic self-confidence, be self-disciplined and deep in our dedication to purifying our lives toward a greater integrity, and not fumble the deep awarenesses we're capable of. We are also challenged not to get involved in hassles that are not our business or problem, refuse all that is petty or petulant, and put on the show, using grand style. Be alert for power struggles and boundary issues, since the Sun in the last decan of Gemini holds that particular dilemma due to its dual Sun-Saturn rulership.
The Seesaw is modified by the Moon in Scorpio Jun 17-19, creating a temporary Splay, sending things in diverse and not easily linked directions. The Grand Water Trine is the key to success at that time. Flow, flow, and flow some more. Then the Seesaw predominates until the Moon in Taurus from June 30-July 2, creating a Bucket. Then it's back to the Seesaw until the next Moon in Scorpio July 15-17, re-emphasizing the Splay. After that point, it's back on the Seesaw through the end of August, since the Lunar transits don't modify the pattern very much through the end of the forecast period.
FYI, famous examples of Seesaw personalities are Bercy Bysshe Shelley, "prophet of free experience or of an unbound Promethian employment of the human mind and its instinctive powers," Emanuel Swedenborg, "brilliant pioneer in modern science," Luther Burbank, "outstanding mediator between the natural and cultivated organism," and Rudyard Kipling, who "drew geographic areas together in the same way that Swedenborg linked the invisible to the visible with a new pertinence, and that Shelley brought many thinkers to realize the value of the irrational as a check upon modern intellectual egotism."
