Global Astrology for July 2005 - Using Rectangles For Growth

The first half of July should bring a sense of momentum and a feeling that things are moving forward since all the visible planets are in direct motion and very harmonious to each other. When there are no inner planets retrograde and the outer invisible metaphysical planets are all retrograde, we experience powerful times of finding and living our true purpose, since retrograde invisible planets assist us in finding our place in the larger scheme of things. All the visible planets being direct in motion usually indicate a minimum of worldly deflections and reversals. This will shift at the coming Mercury retrograde beginning July 22-23, 2005, when we will begin to glimpse things to come in August.

The rectangle between Mars in Aries, Jupiter in Libra, Mercury and Venus in Leo, and Neptune in Aquarius indicates the ability to find multiple opportunities and understandings in the midst of general oppositions. As I’ve described before, this configuration is like “tacking into the wind” in sailboating. Even with the strongest wind coming from the direction you’re going, you can still make progress by going against the wind using the right angle.

The Aries-Libra opposition has stimulated powerful initiatory forces in our world and in each of us, challenging us to see life from a grander perspective and more elegant way of relating to others while expressing our true self. The Leo-Aquarius oppositions this month will bring forms of our ideals to the surface, releasing qualities of nobility, courage, creativity, spontaneity, and playfulness to the extent we are willing to practice these.

Crosscurrents this month occur mainly from oppositions polarizing things to achieve larger perspectives. Mercury and Venus opposition to Neptune challenges us to adjust ourselves to what's going on to find cooperation, and use our insights into human motives and folly to find a way to demonstrate the phases and stages of which direction ideas and relationships are going. Try to be as clear as possible about the reality and the ideal, do not yield to putdowns or lack of clarity in agreements or understanding, and be clear about what roles you're playing and what you're not.

With the Sun conjunct Saturn in the middle of the month, there may be conflicted feelings, since it occurs at the Grand Fire Trine. A Sun conjunct Saturn usually brings a sense of heaviness or seriousness to general conditions, while a Fire Trine lightens things up and transforms things. The Sun-Saturn indicates that we’ll all have important developments wherever 1 Leo falls in our charts. This is a degree of spontaneity, erupting Solar force, dramatic expression of energy, even "conflagration." We are told it is a degree of "overwhelming potential" and "Irresistability." Follow the need for stability, mobilize your powers to fulfill your heart's desire, and establish an "unbroken continuity between being and doing, or between identity and its continual manifestation of itself." Go for the light, wherever you sense it’s hitting your existence.
