Global Astrology in August-September-October 2005 - Kite Formations and more Yods, or Fingers of God
by Robert Wilkinson
We have quite a few important Yod configurations coming in the next dozen weeks. As you know if you've been reading this column for any length of time, the Yod is also known as the "Finger of God," and requires multiple sacrifices to expand in strength, focus, and awareness of what's important in the life and what has become obsolete. Because this type of "kite" configuration involves two quincunx aspects and a sextile, they often show as hard adjustments or the appearance of health situations (physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual) that require attention, yielding very productive growth.
We had an important Yod in early July, when Mercury and Venus in Leo sextiled Jupiter with all quincunx Uranus. Read more at this link. This should have helped the Taurus, Gemini, Virgo, Libra, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces parts of our lives to grow, despite the pressure. That so many planets form Yods with Uranus as the nozzle shows we're all going to have to adjust due to forces seemingly beyond our control. Actually, they ARE beyond our control, but our own response to the pressure is definitely within our command. We'll definitely all have major opportunities to individuate in the next three weeks. Just try to remember that the jury's out, so to speak, while Mercury is retrograde. Keep your judgments a little loose and flexible, do your research and rehearsals, and get ready for what's coming.
The next Yod we face comes in mid-August, with Mercury stationary direct double quincunx Mars sextile Uranus. Slow down, try not to be too eccentric, and get your "breath" focused to create beautiful works during and after that time. You can find out more about the Mercury stationary point at this link. Because Mercury is the nozzle of the Yod, it will establish a threshold platform for future development in the Gemini and Virgo areas of our charts, while building the Aries and Scorpio areas, linking these with the Uranus-ruled sectors. This will have important implications in December 2005, since Mars goes stationary direct then also in sextile to Uranus. Thus the opportunities we experience at this Yod in mid-August will give us a practice for what we'll be doing after November.
September 12 gives us a Yod with Moon in Capricorn sextile Uranus double quincunx Saturn in Leo. Adjust your rules, duties, and responsibilities to make your life and work more creative, inventive, or unique. September 24 features a more significant Yod, with Mercury in Libra sextile Saturn double quincunx Uranus. This heralds the Sun sextile Saturn double quincunx Uranus on September 30-October 1, quickly followed by the Moon in Libra sextile Saturn double quincunx Uranus. The information, ideas, or signals on September 24 will help us coordinate the stabilizing Solar Yod at the end of the month, and by the time October is over, our adjustments will point the way to a more ideal life. Sacrifice whatever you need to in order to take advantage of these Fingers of God.
A final note on this subject for now. The "Finger of God" is but one of several "kite" configurations. There are actually quite a few configurations known as "kites," and all involve three planets. Two will establish the primary angle influence, and the third is always at the inverse midpoint. Thus two planets in sextile yield a third in quincunx to the sextile pair. Two planets in square yield a third in sesquisquare to the pair. Two planets in quintile yield a third that biquintiles the two. Two in septile yield a third in triseptile to the pair, and two in novile yield a third in quadranovile to the pair. The pairing indicates which planetary sectors are anchoring the energy, and the third is the nozzle that focuses that energy. This may seem obscure to those with little or no knowledge of astrology, but the principle involves the fundamentals of angular patterning that shows the quality of interaction between the different areas of our lives. Thus the gestative quality of the novile yields the need to accept or reject relationships based in spiritual harmony or disharmony for practical and idealistic reasons through the quadranovile aspects. The non-rational, compulsive, "fork in the road" quality of the septile yields the multiple cooperative-collective interactive "destiny producing" effects of the double triseptile. Hopefully this elucidates the general principles at work in these types of configurations.
