Why read? This essay by an acquaintance of mine is, in my not so humble opinion, an incredible elucidation of the problems of our disconnected, disengaged, dis-communed (if there is such a word, which I fear there isn't) anti-intellect society--as well as a lantern holding out the promise still extant in our culture.
