Okay, shoot me but I didn't know who Gene Simmons was and I have no idea what Kiss sounds like, but I just finished listening to his 4-hour audio book. I heard it was inspiring. Sure, it was a go-get-em book but the target audience is 20-year-old guys. The subtitle should have been "So You Want to be a Rock Star?" The secrets of his success: Get off your duff and be prepared to work 24/7. Be smart, be bold, learn how to do everything. Failures are inevitable. You work just as hard to achieve a failure as a success, but put the failures behind you and keep moving. Don't waste your money on drugs and women. Not everbody will like you.
Straight talk that a lot of young men (& women) need.
Interesting to know that behind the crazed, wicked looking persona there lives a sensible Jewish boy.

On Transom.Org, Alex Blumberg ("This American Life" contributor) gives some advice on radio stories.
You can tell a lot about whether something’s a story entirely from the first question that occurs to you... You’re the reporter, you get your recorder together, go to the site of your story, find someone to interview, and what do you ask? It may seem basic, but I find it very helpful to think about, even today. Literally, what’s the question that I want to answer, or the story I want to hear? If the questions seem obvious, chances are it’s a story...
...don’t choose a story just because it sounds like a story you’ve heard before. In fact, just the opposite. Choose a story because it’s surprising.
I’ve developed a mathematical test to tell whether you’re on the right track. It’s called the “and what’s interesting” test. You simply tell someone about the story you’re doing, adhering to a very strict formula: “I’m doing a story about X. And what’s interesting about it is Y.”
