Clutter
I have too many books, too many "collectibles" (largely compliments of my mother-in-law), and too many trinkets we've saved from various adventures that are just too precious to get rid of. In the corner that makes up our breakfast area the two walls have large cork bulletin boards that essentially pay homage to my son's life.
They are adorned with class pictures from each year of school, sports team pictures, report cards, awards, artwork, notes about upcoming events and invitations (now long in the past), post cards, snap shots and all manner of similar stuff, overlapping one another and spilling out of the boards to creep across the wall and fill the space between them.
Around the corner is the refrigerator, also covered with bulletins, notes and pictures, held in place by a profusion of magnets. As I passed by this morning, I noticed a Far Side cartoon that's been up there since it appeared in the newspaper in 1994. I loved Gary Larsons comics, and was sad when he announced his retirement. I'm sure everyone has a favorite. Here's mine.
