Maps, Damned Maps, and Statistics

I read too many blogs that are too excited about all of the new electoral maps.  There are maps that split each state according to its D/R votes, maps that bloat the country like Spongebob Squarepants taking a bath, and maps that just look goofy.  I'm sick of electoral maps.

At least, I thought I was.

Then I saw this map. 


And then I saw the 2004 electoral map again.



You may draw your own conclusions.  "Moral values" indeed.
