Sandra Day O'Connor and the Coming Apocalypse Well, everyone seems to have an opinion about Justice O'Connor's retirement and whether it means the end of Roe v. Wade, minority rights, and the world as we know it.  Here's what I wrote in my mini-blog at tpmcafe.com: The Supreme Court hyperbole begins.  Yes, it's bad that O'Connor's leaving instead of Rehnquist (who will be undoubtedly be leaving in the next twelve months, unless he just up and dies.)  Yes, I know all the 5-4 calculus.  Yes, I'm disappointed.  And of course, Bush is going to try and pick some arch-conservative wingnut, just to appease his only remaining audience, the screwball religious right.  But let's get ahold of ourselves, people.
