(being a very very very occasional update on my iPod music)
I changed the settings on Marv
so he wouldn't automatically sync with all of the music on my
computer. I'm actually running out of memory on my Mac, so this
way I can just drop mp3s onto the iPod without ripping them onto the
computer first. (BTW - thanks to Filchyboy for hepping me to the lingo.)
My latest additions to the collection:
Miles Davis - In a Silent Way, Kind of Blue, Sketches of Spain
John Coltrane - Bahia, My Favorite Things (I don't yet own A Love Supreme)
Nortec Collective - The Tijuana Sessions, Vol. 1
Suba - São Paolo Confessions
Suba was a brilliant and well-respected Brazilian producer who died in
a fire in 1999, shortly after releasing this amazing solo album.
After producing some of the modern classics of Brazilian music,
including Tanto Tempo by Bebel Gilberto, he went to work on his first and only solo work. Confessions
combines traditional Brazilian rhythms with electronic beats and
atmospheres to replicate the rainforest/ultramodern feel of São Paolo
itself. If you're into world music or Brazilian music at all,
check out this album.
