Three Massachusetts women today sued Wal-Mart over its failure to carry emergency contraception in its pharmacies. MA law requires pharmacies to stock all "commonly prescribed medicines."

One of the plaintiffs, Rebekah Gee, is completing her residency at Brigham and Women's/Massachusetts General Hospitals in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She was quoted as saying: "I did this on behalf of my patients. Women shouldn't be refused needed medication."

Capitol Police today apologized to Cindy Sheehan and dropped a charge of unlawful conduct after leading her away in handcuffs yesterday for wearing an anti-war t-shirt to the Bush State of the Union address. A Republican Congressman's wife had also been ejected for wearing a political t-shirt (Support the Troops), but wasn't arrested. Nice democracy we've got here in Bush country.

Sheehan's t-shirt was more factual than ideological. It simply stated the number of US soldiers killed in Iraq: 2,245 and asked "How Many More?"

Good question.
