Stephen Colbert plus Helen Thomas. What a combo. This was the devastating send-up at the White House Correspondents dinner last night that left the audience in very nervous laughter and BushCo. unsmiling. Crooks&Liars has the video. (Cs&Ls is great -- you can count on this blog to have the goods) Check it out. Thomas is really fabulous as a truth stalker in Colbert's press secretary "audition tape" at the end. You'd laugh harder at Colbert if his satire weren't so true. [hat tip to friend Julie R. for finding this so fast]

Story of the week over there in the lefthand column has actually been more like story of the month or months to be honest about it. But I have a truly new one this week by my longtime friend journalist Anne Swardson. It's a new story to GITLR but an old story for those young women who started out in journalism a few years after Woodstock. Check it against your own story these days.
