work and pregnancy

I'm zeroing in on 40.  Where that time went is another story.  I can remember being totally shocked to hear my mother tell of being fired from her job when she got pregnant.  Her boss telling her that he knew "this would happen" once she got married.  I remember in my early years of working, back in the 80s, having nearly every male boss ask about my sex life and having to listen to them talk about theirs, talk about the porn they watched.   It seems unthinkable now but back then it seemed normal (if uncomfortable).
