Wandering Willow wandered down to New Mexico this weekend.  There's a little Willow sapling to visit down there.  (photos on my duplicate other blog: see link to the left).  And there were Green Chile Rellenos to be eaten at La Fonda in Santa Fe.  They make the best Chile Rellenos on earth.

The bluest sky you could ever find lives above New Mexico.  Watermelon-red rocks jut starkly up against that robins-egg-newborn's-eyes-deepest-ocean-turquoise blue sky, and it does something good to your insides.  It makes them relax, makes you take a long deep breath and realize that life is good.  No matter what else is going on, the sky is that kind of blue and the rocks are an unbelieveable shade of beautiful. Antelopes blended in here and there, munching grass and peering out at us from their camoflage. White cloud castles with lavender undersides floated along now and then.. One cloud was shaped just like a butterfly.

I planned great projects as we drove the straight-line road from here to there.  Paintings.  I planned several paintings.  Songs.  I half-wrote a song I'd love to sing, if only I could remember either the words or the tune.  Hikes I haven't taken yet this spring.  Stories for the blog about the drive to New Mexico, which I'm not likely to ever find time to write.

We drove, listening to good music both ways. What did we listen to, you ask?
*  Newly remastered CD of Loggins & Messina's greatest hits album "Sittin' In Again".  Excellent sound quality!
*  Robert Plant's new CD "The Mighty Rearranger"  I liked half of it and found half of it too harsh to enjoy.
*  Bonnie Raitt's not-new CD... can't remember the name...from about 2 yrs ago.  She's just so GOOD at singing her heart & guts & soul into our hungry ears!  Good R&B is hard to beat.
*  Los Lobos, also not new, but always amazing guitar work.

That's a good dose of wandering for one weekend.  Now it's back to work for Workin' Willow.
