Here
is a follow up on my absurd sneezing injury and resultant week and a
half of enforced vacation. Oh, didn't I explain that part? This
all happened as a result of a big sneeze. I could hear and feel
the bones jumping out of place, and knew I was about to embark on some
kind of adventure. Supposedly, the muscles and bones had been
creeping out of alignment for awhile, and the sneeze just set it
off. Like that famous bodybuilder, I can't remember who it was,
who fractured his spine while reaching for his comb. Something little
can be the final trigger.
My back
muscles were in spasm too strongly for me to get out to any of the
therapies that people have been so kind to suggest. Just the
chiropractor twice. Yesterday, though, I made it to my office
partner, and she did her magical CranioSacral Therapy. It felt
wonderful, but even better: it worked! I remained sore yesterday
evening, but awoke this morning with no spasms. YAY! I
didn't expect a cure that extreme. What a good surprise!
I still
ache all over, but have two appointments tomorrow that should fix me
right up. That and some herbal liniments. (St. John's Wort,
arnica, lobelia, corn mint, calendula, white willow bark and
more. Available online at www.HerNativeRoots.com. It's a
great website for excellent herbal preparations made by an Iroquois
medicine woman, last in a long line of medicine women. She's a friend
of mine too.) Then I won't have to write about this again.
I suppose there is a lesson we all can learn from my little personal
tragedy: If you feel like you need a professional massage, you really
should go and get one. It's a lot cheaper and more fun in the long
run. I think I'd better listen to my own advice.
