Bread Crumbs...
the ephemeral hierarchy of memory
There are old children with old eyes, whose oldness displays their distinctive character . . . old souls who seem to be waiting to catch up to the time when they can finally come into their own. Estranged in childhood, distressed in youth, they have been old from the beginning. The Force of Character and the Lasting Life, by James Hillman. ~ quote courtesy of Darcy Woodall

It's just a question of priorities, after all...

"Houston's beer can house to be restored" and a $125,000 Houston Endowment grant is all that was required to make this dream  come true...

UPDATE ~

I don't usually play Meme Games-- at least not the kind where I have to come up with the answers-- but because Birdie asked, I did... and then I asked other people even less likely than I, and they played... and their answers are great. In fact, if you follow the links, both forward and back, you'll find a lot of interesting people to be stranded on an island with... no, not "Survivor" material-- much better-- intellectually stimulating & imaginative. Start with Birdie, and then the three links below, and you'll see what I mean...

I've been stuck! ...by Birdie at her  Birdpoems site...

Stick It Game ~

Below are my answers to the stick it game:

You're stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
One of the Norton Anthologies... a little something for all my moods.

Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Yep, I did... Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables.

The last book you bought is:
Gag Rule: On the Suppression of Dissent and the Stifling of Democracy, by Lewis Lapham

The last book you read:
Waking Raphael, by Leslie Forbes, an unusual combination of mystery and art history...

What are you currently reading?
Gilead by Marilynne Robinson, Gag Rule by Lapham, and My Life by Bill Clinton

Five books you would take to a deserted island:

The Complete Works of Jane Austen in one volume (so I wouldn't have to choose only one...)
A Field Guide to island Flora & Fauna

The Dictionary of Imaginary Places (it includes a lot of islands...)

A Norton Anthology of English Literature (both poetry & prose...)

A collection by MFK Fisher (she writes so well about the experience of a sea-change...)

Who are you going to pass this stick to (3 persons) and why?

 Dick, mscandide, and Mark

...because even though this is not the kind of Game that any of them would usually post, I am curious about their answers...
