Read Gloria Steinem for the best, and highest-road answer to the big question-- for Democrats, Liberals and Progressives-- of the 2008 election: Who trumps in this history-making race... first black or first woman? There is plenty of time for any or all of us to make up our minds. Really! We have a great field of candidates, of whom Clinton and Obama are only two. Let's savor the moment. And allow time for the others, including Edwards, Vilsack, Kucinich, Richardson, Biden, yes, all of them, and especially Gore, who may yet enter the race, to have their own impact on the public discussions and the debates. I won't easily forget that Maureen Dowd so easily dismissed an earlier field of similarly serious candidates as the Seven Dwarves. Perhaps she now regrets that epithet, I don't know, but let's not let anyone else in the MSM-- or the blogosphere-- get away with such dismissiveness this time. We all deserve better.
