Dear George,

What a sage you are; how great is your wisdom.  You understand that the first rule of bullshit is to deny that it is bullshit.  The second rule is to bring down calumniation on all who dare point out that bullshit is bullshit.

In your speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, you were smooth, big guy, really smooth.  I loved the way you cocked the pistol, aimed it and laid your finger along side the trigger.  You let the public stare down the barrel as you suggested that the debate over Iraq might bring “comfort to our enemies” by claiming that your administration lied its way into war.

“Comfort” is fifty percent of the “aid and comfort” that constitutes treason.  All that is needed is the stroke of your pen and the addition of a three-letter word, and anyone suggesting that the lead- up to Iraq was anything but honest becomes guilty of a treasonous act.  The groundwork is laid; the trap is set waiting for the unwary to step into it.

Who says truth is a virtue.  Look at all you’ve accomplished without it.

Your admirer,

Belacqua Jones
