Dear George,

It’s great to see we kicked more ass as we staged a major assault on insurgent bases outside of Samara, home of the now defunct Golden Mosque.  Our troops swept through a 100 square mile area and didn’t encounter any resistance or take any casualties.  Commanders termed it a “tactical surprise.”

It is a tribute to the keen intellect of our military leaders that they have not yet figured out that guerilla warfare has nothing to do with seizing or holding territory. The reason they encountered no resistance is that the insurgents split. In truth, the operation was simply part of the Whiteman’s burden.  When the natives get testy, it’s our duty to blast the little brown bastards into oblivion, if we can find them.

Your admirer,

Belacqua Jones
