Dear George,

By God, you told them!  You set America straight when you told that crowd in Cleveland, “Others look at the violence they see on television…and they wonder how I can remain so optimistic about the prospects of success in Iraq.  They wonder what I see that they don’t see.”

Hell, George, that’s a no-brainer.  What you see is Jesus sitting at the foot of your bed every night giving you your marching orders for the day.  The beauty of fantasy is its totality.  Fantasy creates a euphoric bubble that screens out any reality that might contradict it.  Reality is laced with bullshit; fantasy is vision without the bullshit.

Iraq allows you to strut the world stage and play the war leader. Through you, all the angry White males in America find fulfillment.  Once again, they are able to walk the streets of Laredo, a law unto themselves as their blazing six-guns rid the town of evil.

Worry not that you stand aboard a burning ship that is beginning to sink beneath the surface of the sea.  The world will remember and honor your martyrdom.  After you are gone, they will have to find a little more space on Mount Rushmore so your bland smirk can find its place among the immortals.

Your admirer,

Belacqua Jones
