Dear George,

Praise our Marketers for they are our Nosferatu, slowly sucking life dry until a sterile shell is left that can only find meaning in the product descriptions of a J. Peterman catalogue and its attending fantasy of banging a countess. Sterility is the final stage of an oppression that robs the masses of the real and leaves them only the virtual.  A consumerist society can only reinvent itself in the image of the glossy pages of a J. Crew catalog, and in doing so loses the democratic vitality that has been so troublesome in the past.

An ongoing paranoia inflates their sanitary bubble.  The threat of an evil from without is what drives the masses to scrub clean their lives and their communities.  The Devil must be outside the bubble, clawing to break through and corrupt all that is within.  Pray God they never learn the truth:  That the Devil resides within them and speaks every time they say, “I.”

Your admirer,

Belacqua Jones
