Dear George,
Liberty’s torch burnt phosphorescent white on the day you announced your West Point Doctrine. You showcased this doctrine in a 2002 speech to West Point cadets. Simply stated, it declares the United States will never allow the development of an economic, political or military competitor.
Here is capitalism at work. It is also a sublime expression of hubric bullshit, which proves that Empire is an exercise in self-destruction.
Your doctrine creates an elegant feedback loop, a golden sphere, that guarantees the prosperity of your two biggest supporters—Big Oil and the Military-Industrial Complex.
To protect our political and economic supremacy, we must protect our overseas oil supply. This requires a muscular Military-Industrial Complex, which will burn even more oil to protect our oil, which will require an even bigger Military-Industrial Complex, which will burn even more oil, which….
Round and round it will go, keeping both Big Oil and the Military-Industrial Complex hale and hearty until the whole structure collapses under its own weight.
But, hell, by that time all the profits will be in Swiss bank accounts and the corporate headquarters will be located in Dubai, so who really gives a shit what happens? If an average citizen subverts his country and splits, it’s called treason. If our corporatist elites do the same thing, it’s call globalization.
Once again, an apathetic public and a prostituted press remain oblivious to the obvious—were we to reduce our Military-Industrial Complex, we would also reduce our dependency on foreign oil. It’s a hell of a lot cheaper and burns less oil to fly a trade delegation over to the Middle East to cut the best deal they can, as in capitalism, free enterprise, the law of supply and demand. But, that’s our little secret.
As always, ignorance is bliss.
Your admirer,
Belacqua Jones
