Dear George,

Well, if this isn’t a whoop and a holler!  Before the bill to fund your Iraq enterprise even hit your desk, the Democrats folded on their demand for a binding timetable for troop withdrawal.  What they are going to do is pass a bill with an “advisory” timetable, instead.

I keep telling you George, the Democrats are so used to having their tail between their legs they can’t break the habit.  They still think you are the alpha male, even though you’ve lost most of you teeth.

Besides, good corporate employees don’t rock the boat.  War keeps the military-industrial complex healthy, and this, in turn, guarantees a continuing inflow of hefty campaign contributions.

But what really bongs my baffles is that when it comes down to amoral, political calculation, the Democrats have crawled into bed with you, thus surrendering the moral high ground.  They figure that by folding on troop withdrawal, they’ll pick up some Republican votes.  They are just as willing to sacrifice our young people for political gain as you are.

I wonder if they’ve calculated how many votes each death will garner.

The only remaining question is who will stand up and cheer the Democrats for their courageous stand.

Your admirer,

Belacqua Jones
